One of the most anticipated seasons in American households is the fall preview season. Many television shows will not make it past the fall sweeps despite the network’s high hopes. This year is no different. Entertainment Weekly magazine reports there’s a diverse crop of new shows including some revamps of old hits, reality shows and traditional sitcoms and dramas. It may be useless to be able to trick someone into thinking about a blue duck. But the trick is to apply the same principle to more useful situations. Let’s say you need to remember to pick up some bread and milk on the way home. You could try telling yourself “don’t forget to pick up bread and milk!” Over and over again. Blue Bloods (CBS, 10pm) – NEW! A thief is shot and killed after robbing a family and beating them, which makes the Reagans ponder how far they would go to protect their loved ones. Meanwhile, Frank struggles with charges brought against a girl arrested at a rally due to her identity.
The night’s top-rated shows were “Big Brother” (CBS) and both reruns of “Family Guy” (FOX). The top-viewed shows were “60 Minutes,” “Big Brother,” and a tie between “Unforgettable” and a rerun of “The Mentalist” (all CBS).
